0 Serbia Open Tennis: Djokovic enters semi-finals with second consecutive win, defeats 12-year-old Miomir in three sets

Novak Djokovik

Top seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia has reached the semi-finals of the Serbia Open with two consecutive wins. He defeated compatriot 22-year-old Miomir Kesmenovich 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. The 34-year-old Djokovic, playing only his sixth match this year, lost the first game but made a comeback after that. In the deciding set, he won the last four games to win the match.

This is his tenth consecutive win over 20-time Grand Slam champion Novak Key over compatriot Serbian. Last lost to Janko Tipsarevich in 2012 in Madrid. Djokovic defeated Laslo Jere of Serbia on Wednesday. He joked that thankfully there is no Serbian player in the semi-finals.

Djokovic will now face third seed Karen Khachanov, who defeated Brazilian qualifier Thiago Monteiro 7-5, 6-4. In other matches, Russia’s Andre Rublev defeated Jiri Leheka 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 and Fabio Fognini defeated Aljaz Bedene 6-2-6-3 to reach the quarter-finals.

After the match, Djokovic said that there is a challenge at every stage of the career, this challenge increases after playing on tour for 20 years but it all depends on how you take things mentally. For me age is just a number.

Tsitsipas and Dimitrov in third round:

Barcelona. Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece defeated Ivashka 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at the Barcelona Open. The match was suspended a day earlier due to rain. Tsitsipas was then leading 5-1. Tsitsipas, who won the Monte Carlo title last week, will face Grigor Dimitrov, who defeated Federica Correa 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the third round.

Radukanu clashes with Switek in the quarterfinals:

Stuttgart. US Open champion Ima Radukanu, 19, defeated Germany’s Tamara Korpash 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals of the Stuttgart Open. Now he will compete with world number one Inga Svitek. If Radukanu manages to win the title here, she could be among the top ten players. At present he is at number 12.
