Andrey Rublev defeated world number one Novak Djokovic to win his third title of the season in the final of the Serbia Open. Rublev of Russia was playing in the Serbia Open for the first time and he started the competition with a win.
In this match, there was a fierce battle between the two players. Rublev showed tremendous power against Djokovic and defeated him 6-2, 6-7, 6-0 at his home ground. Djokovic was a strong contender for victory at his home turf.
Rublev went down in the second set after easily winning the first set 6-2, but the 24-year-old saved five points to take the match to the tie-break. However, Djokovic managed to win the set.
After this, Rublev showed a great game in the third set and did not allow the Serbian legend to take any point. They won the match and the title as they won the third set 6-0. The match lasted for two hours and 29 minutes.

During the trophy ceremony, Rublev told Djokovic that it was great to play against you and take the court for the second time. I hope there will be many more matches between us. I feel great here. This is an excellent city. It’s really special. I would like to thank all the supporters for supporting all the players for a week. Rublev equals Nadal:
Rublev has equaled Spain’s Rafael Nadal in terms of winning the title in the year 2022. Earlier in February, he had won titles in Marseille and Dubai.
Djokovic was participating in his third tournament of the season. However, this year he has not won any title so far.
Earlier, he had to face defeat in the Monte Carlo Masters and Dubai Championships, while he could not play in the Australian Open due to not being vaccinated against Corona.
