In breast cancer patients, cancer cells easily reach other organs through the blood. Actually, the tumor is active in the body of these patients while sleeping. With the help of this, they reach different parts of the body and start growing in the form of lumps.
This is the reason that even after the end of the tumor in one place, there is a possibility of their formation in another place. Scientists have made this claim in a research done on rats.
According to Nicole Ecto, a cancer biologist and one of the researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland, cancer cells are more active at night than in the afternoon.
According to scientists, the body has an internal clock, which is controlled by genes. It shows the processes taking place in the body. This also includes metabolism and sleep. Earlier, scientists had speculated that cancer cells are so mature that they do not make any difference to the body clock.
The risk of breast cancer is higher than that of other cancers:
There are more such cells in breast cancer than in other cancers. When these cancer cells reach the blood, it does not take long to form tumors in other organs as well. This is called the process of ‘metastasis’. According to the report published in ‘The Nature’ magazine
30 women tested:
Blood samples were taken at 4 am and 10 am. The test revealed that 80% of the CTC levels were elevated in the 4 am sample. That is, cancer cells were growing in the morning when people were sleeping.
What do researchers say:
Caution has to be taken while tracking cancer. Cancer cells may not be caught if blood samples are taken during the day. For this, the doctor checks the CTC level, which shows whether the tumor has formed from cancer cells or not.
