England vs India (ENGvIND): The 1st ODI of India tour of England will be played between ENG vs IND, the match will start at 05:30 PM IST on 12 July 2022 at Kennington Oval, London
Team winner Prediction:
Key Points:
- England will be strengthened by the addition of Root, Bairstow, and Stokes to the lineup
- India’s batting is strong on paper but its best batters are struggling for runs
- Both teams have a similarly strong bowling attack and should cancel each other out overall
ENG vs IND Analysis:
India won the T20I series 2-1 against England and now has a chance to pursue their white-ball ambitions in the ODI series. Out of all the formats, the ODI format is the one that seems to be the least important right now. It has been more than a year for the ODI World Cup and the focus of all the teams is on the T20 World Cup 2022.
Does this mean that teams are doing ODIs in isolation and maybe experimenting a bit more? We think India are definitely going to use the ODIs to send a message about their new attacking philosophy, perhaps a bit restrained from T20s.
Jos Buttler would also like to start his captaincy career in a better ODI format than T20. The current world champions of ODI cricket begin the match against India as a minor underdog as India is the favorite among all the best cricket betting sites.

Pitch and Weather Conditions:
The weather forecast for London is quite good for match day. There is a bit of cloud cover that is expected but no rain has been forecast. The pitch at the Oval is excellent for batting. It will be flat with a nice amount of bounce and carry. It will also remain that way for the duration of the match.
A high scoring match with plenty of boundaries seem to be in store.
Team Preview:
England (ENG):
England’s ODI team is completely ready and the players running in its many forms are going to be available for selection once again. Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes are all in the team and they will definitely get a place in the playing XI.
It immediately adds so much batting power to the lineup which was missing from T20s. We will bet on Root and Bairstow to score runs in this match as well, from where they left off in the Test matches.
Jason Roy will open the batting with Bairstow but he is not in the best form right now. We will stay away from betting on him in this match. Butler, Liam Livingstone and Moeen Ali are ready to play, the batting is strong and full of power once again.
Reece Topley, Matthew Parkinson, David Willey and Craig Overton could be the bowlers to make it to the playing XI. Almost every one of these bowlers is also a handy batsman, which once again underlines batting prowess in England’s lineup.
The wicket-taking ability, the choice in the lineup with a plethora of all-rounders and the variety of bowling units are also remarkable.
Likely XI: Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Liam Livingstone, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (c, wk), Moeen Ali, David Willey, Craig Overton, Matt Parkinson, Reece Topley

India (IND):
India will be happy with the results achieved in the T20 format and from what Rohit Sharma has said, it seems that this new attack theory will continue in ODIs as well. Rohit Sharma said that ODIs are an extension of the T20 format. A refreshing change in attitude that can be extremely exciting to watch.
The batting lineup for India is more or less set. Rohit Sharma will open with Shikhar Dhawan, followed by Virat Kohli/Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. We are sure that Sky’s performance in the last T20 made it very difficult to get him out, but Shreyas Iyer has scored a lot of runs before that.
Virat Kohli may be ruled out of 1st ODI against England due to muscle strain. The answer to another question is whether Hardik is going to bowl regularly in ODIs as well.
The four bowlers will be Mohammed Shami, Prashant Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah. It is a blockbuster bowling unit which can be changed as the series progresses.
India’s biggest strength is that Hardik Pandya is back at his best and strikes a fine balance in the Indian lineup with Ravindra Jadeja. There is depth in the batting and there are six bowling options. Also, the bowling unit has done well against England in swing conditions and the current crop of bowlers can do the same.
The major cause for concern would be the lack of big runs from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The ODI format is where both these players have been most comfortable and where they can take some time off before the tee-off. We won’t bet on him to score runs right now, but it looks like Virat Kohli’s place in the team is not in danger during his career.
Likely XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli/Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah.
