0 Katie Ledecky wins 18th gold in World Swimming Championship

US swimmer Katie Ledecky, 25, has taken her medal tally to 21 at the World Championships. She now has two more medals than any other female swimmer in the world. Of these 21 medals, 18 are gold. She won her 18th gold in the women’s 4×200 freestyle relay.

The American team set a meet record of 7:41.45. Earlier, Ledecky had achieved gold successes in the 1500m freestyle and 400m freestyle. After Ledecky, compatriot Natalie Coughlin has won 19 medals at the World Championships. He has won seven gold, seven silver, five bronze.

Ledecky, with 18th gold, has moved up to joint second with Ryan Lochte for the most titles at the World Championships. Michael Phelps (26) is at the forefront.
