0 IND vs SA 4th T20I Preview, Live, Dream11 Team, Report and Live Streaming

India vs South Africa (INDvSA): The 4th Paytm T20I of South Africa tour of India will be played between IND vs SA, the match will start at 07:00 PM IST on 17 June 2022 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot, India

Team winner Prediction:

60%
IND
40%
SA

Key Points:

  • India were brilliant in the last match with the ball and will be brimming with confidence coming into this one
  • South Africa are a little too over-reliant on David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen to handle Indian spinners in the middle-overs
  • India are coming off a big win in the previous match and will be brimming with confidence

IND vs SA Analysis:

Even since Virat Kohli has leg go of the captaincy duties in the limited overs format, India as a team has struggled to get hold of a settled limited-overs side. Just when Rohit Sharma looked to be taking India’s T20I outfit to newer heights, a string of injuries coupled with a few experiments pushed India from a record-breaking situation to a situation where they are staring at an early home-series defeat.

One could argue that India are without their full-strength setup, but despite that they have a side full of seasoned T20 campaigners. We saw India fight their way back into the series with a win in the third match and they will want to extend that fightback as we move into the fag end of this T20I series. The two remaining fixtures and the ones to be played against Ireland later this month will be of vital importance for India as far as shortlisting candidates for the T20 World Cup is concerned.

A lot rests on the result of this match with respect to the series. A win for India will put the focus back on the fifth match of the series whereas a win for the Proteas will seal the series then and there.

Match Details:

IND vs SA 4th T20I

Date: 17 June, 2022
Time: 07:00 PM (IST)
Venue: Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot, India
Live Streaming: Disney+ Hotstar
TV: Star Sports Network

Pitch and Weather Conditions:

Only three T20Is have been played here. In October 2013, Australia’s 201/7 wasn’t enough to stop India winning by six wickets. Four years later New Zealand’s 196/2 proved 40 runs too good for the home side. India won by eight wickets after restricting Bangladesh to 153/6. So there are runs in this pitch, but clever bowling can curb big scores.

Team Preview:

India (IND):

Even though India are coming off a big win in the previous fixture, their situation hasn’t changed a lot. They still need to win this upcoming match to stay relevant in the series. It was India’s biggest ever win over the Proteas and they would want to keep building on that win. After a couple of dreadful losses, India would have relished this win more so because of the positives it brought up.

India’s pain areas in the first two games was their opening pair with Ruturaj Gaikwad not doing well. It was all fixed in the third match as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan combined to put together a partnership of over 100 runs with both these batsmen scoring over fifty runs each. With many candidates available to open the innings in Indian domestic cricket apart from KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, these two would want to make it count for one more time.

With Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli not available, India’s middle-order has disappointed in the series so far. The likes of Shryeas Iyer and Rishabh Pant have even though looked good, they have not been able to get the desired results for the team. On the finishing front, however, Dinesh Karthick and Hardik Pandya have done well and will want to continue doing how they have done.

With the Proteas batsmen able to deal with the spinners well, India’s bowling has looked one-dimensional. Yuzvendra Chahal found his mojo back in the previous match and it will be imperative for him to do well to retain his place ahead of the others, especially with Ravi Bishnoi waiting in the shed. India’s primary weapon with the ball will once again be Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has been exceptional with the new ball in recent times. Avesh Khan, on the other hand, has been a tad disappointing and we might see him getting replaced by Arshdeep Singh as that would also bolster India’s slog-overs bowling.

All in all, India did well in the last match, but they are still far from their best, especially with the home advantage available. India would need their middle-order and spinners to be at their dominant best in the upcoming game. If that happens, the Proteas will certainly have their work cut out.

Likely XI: Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan/Arshdeep Singh

South Africa (SA):

Despite how the Proteas did in the last match, this side of theirs certainly does deserve a lot of credit for being in the position they are in at the moment. They are not only ahead in the series but they have also looked to be the better side between the two. Having said that, they did lose the plot in the previous match and will want to do a lot better in the fourth match of the series.

South Africa’s primary reason for winning the first two matches was arguably how well they handled Indian spinners. The likes of David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen were pretty severe on the likes of Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal in the first two matches, but could not replicate the same in the subsequent match. With the openers not doing as well as they need to, the Proteas will need to ensure that they negotiate the spinners well in this upcoming match.

On the bowling front, South Africa have done a decent job, including their performance in the last one. It was a superb comeback by their bowlers after Indian openers provided their side with a match-winning start. The likes of Kagiso Rabada, Wayne Parnell, and Keshav Maharaj have been brilliant and will hold the key one a flat deck of Rajkot in this upcoming match.

Also, with Dwaine Pretorius, Keshav Maharaj, Wayne Parnell, and Kagiso Rabada all more than capable to bat, South Africa have a batting lineup that goes deep. They can afford to go slam, bang, wallop at the top and could be a dangerous bunch if they are able to do so effectively.

All in all, the Proteas have done well in the series and a one-off loss shouldn’t bother them much. They would want to get back to the winning ways and will need their batting to step up. We might see Quinton de Kock return to the fold but his availability will be ascertained right on the evening of the match. Regardless, if the Proteas can handle Indian spinners well, they can be a serious side to deal with in this upcoming contest.

Likely XI: Temba Bavuma (c), Reeza Hendricks, Dwaine Pretorius, Rassie van der Dussen, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), David Miller, Wayne Parnell, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi
