0 The Internet Goldmine: Easy Online Money-Making Ideas that Anyone Can Do

The Internet Goldmine: Easy Online Money-Making Ideas that Anyone Can Do

Source
The creation of the Internet has afforded the common man access to a never ending supply of money-making opportunities. A large percentage of these opportunities also have the benefit of not requiring any initial monetary investment. All that is required is a bit of knowledge of the inner-workings of the world wide web and an internet connection.

Answering Questions

There is a new money making opportunity out there called WebAnswers. The underlying concept behind the site is that you can get paid for asking and answering questions. The site works with Google AdSense, so you know that it is legitimate and trustworthy. The great thing about WebAnswers is that it is so simple and easy to use. Do you get 15 minute breaks at work? Well then you have time to answer questions. I started making money within my first hour of posting answers on this site. In my first week I had already answered 80 questions. By then I had already earned almost $5.00. If you choose to use WebAnswers, be sure to focus on quality contributions. It will pay higher dividends in the long run. WebAnswers is a great way to supplement your Google AdSense Income.

Content Creation/Freelance Writing

There are many web sites (or web services) that allow you to create content in exchange for income. Since you're reading this, HubPages, is probably one of the best sites around (trust me, I've researched 100's and tried several others). Even so, there are many other great sites out there as well. The internet's largest, and most well known, content site is eHow. Becoming a writer for them is a rather difficult process though. Remember, with content creation, its about quality not quantity. A thoroughly researched and well written article will earn you much more money in the long run than many poor quality ones. Check out this great hub for more information about content quality: How to Develop Your Writing - Developing Your Voice as a Writer.

Selling Merchandise

Everyone has heard of eBay, right? Well, selling things on eBay or other websites such as Craigslist, OnlineAuction, or UBid is a great way to add to your monthly income. Web sites like these have brought the yard sale out of the yard and into your computer. While they do take some effort on your part (taking pictures, going to the post office, etc), there is plenty of money to be made. With the downed economy, people are always looking for a good deal. The Internet has made it very easy for anyone to become a salesman.

Virtual Real Estate

Domain names are like houses. You can buy them, sell them, or set your 'home' at the domains address. In 2002, Frank Schilling, invested over $200,000 into the purchase of over 250,000 domain names. In 2004, just two years later, Schilling's revenues were more than $10 million dollars. Frank saw an opportunity and took advantage of it. With some quick clicking and a few dollars you can buy the domain names of the latest startup tech companies and sell them later when they want to create an internet presence. Though most of the good domain names are already taken, there still are many opportunities to earn some cash with this method.

Affiliate Marketing

Wouldn't it be great to earn money just for promoting and marketing existing products? Well you can! There are many people who make a decent living from affiliate marketing. Here at HubPages, they have a great affiliate program that uses eBay and Amazon. Commission Junction and ClickBank are another great way to maximize your earnings with affiliate marketing strategies.

Website Flipping

This is sort of like house flipping, but with a lot less paperwork.  This is similar to buying and selling domain names, except this involves much more work. First you buy already established websites, make them more profitable, and then selling them for more money later.  You can also purchase empty domains, create a brand new website, and then sell it as is. This money making method requires a significant input of time and money, but the rewards often outweigh the risks.

Paid Online Surveys

There are many legitimate web sites out there that will pay you for taking surveys. How does it work you ask? Companies are desperate to find the answer to the following question: What do consumers want? These companies will hire market research firms to survey the public and find out the answer to that question. The right survey companies will compensate you very well for your time answering simple questions. Some great survey sites are: SurveyMasterMind, SurveySavvy, and BrandInstitute.

Design for Print on Demand (POD) Companies

If you've got an ounce of creativity in you, then perhaps designing for a print on demand company is for you. There are many companies that enable you to sell your artistic designs on hundreds of products. The two post popular seem to be Zazzle.com and Cafepress.com. I currently run 5 shops at Cafepress which hosts a combined total of more than 1,000 designs. Right now my shops are doing quite well and my passive income from this medium surpasses that of anything other method on this list. The ironic thing is that in my case designing for print on demand companies has required the least amount of work overall.

Selling Stock Photography

If you're like many people these days, you probably have thousands of photographs sitting on your computer right now. However, most people don't realize that there may be a literal goldmine within the photographs stored on your hard drive. Marketing and advertising companies are always in need of high quality images to use in magazines, billboards, and even internet ads. Who knows, perhaps the next ad for your favorite snack could feature you! There are many stock photo sites out there, however among the most popular are: iStockphoto, Fotolia, Dreamstime, and Shutterstock. And since you own the copyright to your photos, there's nothing preventing you from uploading your pictures to more than one site. Stock photography is a volume business. The more images you have, the more money you can make!

Selling Creative Art and Photography

Are you an avid painter or photographer? Wouldn't you want to sell those images online for hundreds or even thousands of dollars? Well now that the Internet exists, you can! Most art and print websites require that you create and upload high quality, high resolution, and unique images to their online galleries. Once uploaded, the world can view your art and purchase high quality prints and canvas reproductions for their homes. Some of the best wall art for your home could be found on one of these sites. There are litterally hundreds of sites that allow you to sell your art and photography. Among the most popular are FineArtAmerica.com, ImageKind.com, and RedBubble.com

0 What Is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

What Is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

What Is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a series of web page formatting techniques and link building efforts that, when implemented properly, can help a web page rank higher in search engine results and drive traffic to a web page. Search Engine Optimization can is divided into two categories:
  1. On Page Optimization - Formatting a website or webpage to optimize its ranking in search engines.
  2. Off Page Optimization - Taking actions on the Internet to optimize a website's or webpage's ranking in search engines.
Implementing SEO is not nearly as complicated as many people believe. Writing an article that includes these formatting techniques makes an article easier to find by Internet users that use major search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing, which can drive traffic to an article. Proper implementation also includes additional on-page and off-page tasks, such as setting a web page's META tags (informational tags) correctly and building links from other sites back to a web page, which have the cumulative effect of increasing a web page's ranking in search engines.
SEO is the use of creative writing techniques to include a key word or key phrase in certain parts of an article, so search engines understand what the article is about, which is needed by search engines to properly categorize an article regarding relevancy of the article to the search term that is searched. The key word or key phrase must be repeated a number of times in specific locations within an article, so search engines associate the article with the key word or key phrase. It also includes additional easy to implement actions that can increase the ranking and visibility of an article in major search engines.
Once a page or website has been optimized using on page formatting techniques, off page strategies must also be implemented to make a page or website fully Search Engine Optimized.

What Is SEO? SEO is Search Engine Optimization.

The First Step – Identify Key Word or Phrase

The first step in implementing SEO takes place before a writer even begins writing an article. It is very important that a writer identify the key word or key phrase that they intend to focus on to implement optimization techniques in their article. For example, it should be obvious by now that the key phrase in this article is what this article is about.
To find a suitable key word or phrase, consider searching major search engines for key words or phrases that you are considering using to see how other articles used them in the top search engine search results. Also use online tools such as Google Adwords or similar key word or key phrase analytical tools to determine which words or phrases are used most often in search engine searches.
It is also very important to come up with a title for the article that uses the key word or key phrase and is likely to be searched by search engine users. Always keep the searcher in mind when deciding on a title for an article. What word or key phrase would you use, if you were searching for information that is within your article?

The Second Step – Strategically Place a Key Word or Phrase

The second step involves strategically placing the key word or phrase in the article in areas of an article in which search engine spiders and bots are known to look for key words and phrases. This is the essence of On Page Search Engine Optimization, so take note of these instructions.
Please Note that as of 2013, Google has become more sophisticated in how it ranks articles, and overuse of a key word or phrase may cause a penalty. It is best to now use a key word or phrase sparingly and try to keep the concentration of them to 1% to 2% of the total words within an article. Use synonyms associated with a key word or phrase in their place, as Google now is capable of recognizing synonyms when ranking an article.
The key word or phrase should be placed in the following parts of an article to help search engines identify and properly index the article:
  • In the Title of the article
  • In the First Sentence or Paragraph of the article, highlighted in bold
  • In at least one H2 Heading in the article, and if possible, in other H2 or H3 Headings
  • Elsewhere within the Body of the article, but try to use variations and synonyms
  • In the Name of Photos included in the article and in the ALT Text for photos
That is it. Making a page optimized is not so difficult after all It can be difficult to find ways to work a key word or phrase into an article in the locations necessary for optimization without writing in awkward manner; however, a little awkwardness may be worth earning higher search engine ranking.

The Third Step – Create Good Backlinks

Off page Search Engine Optimization is just as important as on page efforts, and should not be ignored. Off page optimization essentially involves creating high quality backlinks (links from other webpages) to your article to drive traffic to your article and to increase your article's ranking in search engines. Search engines, such as Google, use the number and quality of backlinks to articles in their assessment of how important an article is and how highly it is displayed. The more backlinks from highly ranked webpages (look into a webpage's Google Page Rank), the more likely an article will be ranked highly in their search results.

The Final Step – Things to Keep in Mind When Writing, Uploading, and Maintaining Articles

In addition to carefully following the instructions in the second step above, the following should be kept in mind when trying to achieve SEO for an article.
  • The title should not only include the key word or phrase, but it should also be a title that is likely to be searched for. For example, someone looking to learn about the best time to fertilize grass is likely to search for something along the lines of “what is the best time to fertilize grass”.
  • An article should be at least 400 characters in length, and preferably at least 700 characters in length, as longer articles are given higher rankings by search engines.
  • Consider where you are uploading an article. Search engines rank websites regarding the relevancy of their content, when deciding how high to rank page links in the search results. An article that has included all of the elements of SEO will rank higher in search engines if it is published on a well regarded website versus an unknown blog.
  • If possible, include the key word or phrase in any Meta Tags or Summary Sections that are available when uploading the article to a website. This will help some search engines identify and index your article. Not all search engines read Meta Tags or Summary Sections, but including the key word or phrase in these areas is worthwhile.
  • Create a RSS feed (RSS = Really Simple Syndication) at the bottom of your article to feature updates from your blog. Creating a RSS feed is a good way of not only promoting your other articles, it also helps with achieving optimization, since search engines rank webpages that update their information regularly more highly than static webpages.
  • Periodically visit your article to see if you can make any improvements regarding optimization and content. Check to see that all links and images are working and the grammar and spelling are correct.
Keep in mind that search engines typically need a few weeks to months to find and index articles published on the Internet, so be patient when searching for your article via search engines to see if your optimization efforts undertaken when writing and publishing an article are effective.

How to Get Massive Web Traffic From Google and other Search Engines

All internet marketers want to rank their websites high on Google's search results page: This is so since Google tops all other search engines on the internet in terms organic traffic generation.
And, there is no genuine, long-term, and highly rewarding website optimization technique than organic SEO. However, there are a number of SEO techniques that you can use to boost website traffic like social media optimization, mobile search optimization, E-mail marketing, and paid search (PPC).
To succeed in internet marketing through organic traffic, you need to put in more effort and this can work within a few months of starting, but can even take as long as 2 years depending on the competition you are facing with big boys in the 1st page of the search engines on your niche.
Software designers and programmers have made SEO to be a piece of cake today; this is so because through WordPress, you can have a well structured and SEO-friendly website without needing a website designer to do it for you.
Also, website promotional techniques can be done easily using a number of automated software; for example Hootsuite for social media optimization, Aweber for Email marketing, and so on.
But, the only problem is that these SEO software need capital investment since they work on a basis of "you get what you pay for", and are only useful when you pay for them for extra features that will help you generate more web traffic.
So, that is why I still prefer organic SEO when it comes to internet marketing since it is free to rank on the first page of Google's and other search engine results page, where you will get massive website traffic for free and for a long term, years and years to come without paying a single cent.
Ranking high on Google search results page is not a rocket science; all you need to do is optimize your site for users and search engine robots; period. If you do so, Google will reward you hugely with a massive traffic and a guaranteed high conversion rate.
Whether you are in affiliate marketing, content marketing for Google AdSense earning program, or just promoting your own product online, just do your part, which is to write quality and original content for users and adhere to a few search engine rules.
The main job of Google and any other search engine out there is to serve the Internet users with the information they need online, and do it as fast as possible by selecting and listing the best few pages that have all that users may need among several millions of web-pages that are talking about the same topic.
So, it is not always about optimizing your website for search engines, search engine algorithms keep changing every day to become smarter, and focusing on old SEO techniques like keyword optimization and backlinks alone will make you a terrible failure: And this is why most internet marketers after years of hard work don't get organic web traffic and the conversion rate they want unless they use paid ads and software, which also do not guarantee success when you have poor content that will not please your site users.
This guide is broken into various parts of organic SEO; both On-page and off-pageSEO techniques that you need to use for impressive organic traffic before embarking on extensive free or paid website promotional techniques for more traffic and high conversion rate.

A) Basic Search Engine Optimization

1. Unique and Accurate Page Titles

Web crawlers start understanding the content of your web-page right from its title: Ensure that your titles are original and accurate; stressing on the main point or idea you want to put across.
On the other hand; include researched and high ranking keywords in your titles for search engine consumption; while still making your titles catchy; having it in mind that your content is for human use.

2. Use Meta Tags and Descriptions

Meta tags and descriptions will show in the search engine results page; these are the summary of your page's content.
Your meta tags should include the main keywords you are going to exploit on the body of your web page; so that web spiders can crawl and index your page appropriately.
On the other hand; use clear and precise description to summarize your content for the humans; so that they know what to expect on your page before actually clicking through to your content.

B) Working on Site's Structure

1. URL Structure

The url structure of your web-page should be descriptive; including the main keywords: Web crawlers should be able to understand the content of your web-page form the url of that page; so that they serve the relevant web-pages to the internet users depending on the search query they use.
On the other hand; meaning full urls have a significant impact on the conversion rate; since humans will be able read them and understand the relevancy of the content; and consequently being converted into a visitor.
If you are using a content management system (CMS) such WordPress; ensure that you edit your permalinks to read exactly what the page is talking about.
Finally; your website URL should also include the main keyword in it; so that if you are a PC retailer, your website will include a PC retailer somewhere.

2. Site Navigation

Make it easy for your website's visitor to navigate around: Provide links to all your pages using relevant anchor tags; so that your visitors get more information concerning relevant topics you have written about on other pages.

C) Content Optimization

1. Offer Quality and Unique Content

Having it in mind that content is king; strive to offer original and quality contents that cannot be found anywhere else.
Before creating your contents and publishing them; ensure that you do sufficient keyword research using keyword tools available on the internet such as the Google Keyword Planner found in AdWords account.
While creating your content; be sure to use your researched keywords naturally throughout the page to maintain a good flow; and also to avoid spamming the search engines.

2. Use Anchor Text

Using your keywords as anchor text; provide links to the pages within your website; with relevant topics as the anchor text.
On the other hand; if necessary, you can provide links using these keywords as anchor text linking to other relevant sites; with good reputation and quality content to offer more insight to your visitors
Avoid linking to irrelevant sites with low quality content as this will hurt your web-page ranking; or even worse the whole website ranking.

3. Optimize Page Visibility Using Images

Web crawlers are in love with images; utilize images on your web-pages so that they are fully optimized for search engine consumption.
Use image description and caption text boxes to describe what your web-page content is all about; ensuring that you include all the necessary keywords you expect to rank high for.
Use quality and large images on your web-page as these are always doing better in search engine results page.
On the other hand; be sure to use your own images; or buy from sites selling images online; or otherwise find the rights to use free images from sites like Google Imagesoffering images and photos for free use.
Make sure you read and understand the terms of use of all images you find on the net to avoid legal charges against you.

4. Make Use of Headings

Separating your content into different heading has a significant impact on both search engine and human optimization.
Provide headings and sub-headings with quality and relevant keywords depending on the topic of that heading or sub-heading.
If you are using plain HyperText Markup Language (HTML); utilize in your content page the H1, H2, H3 and so on; so that emphasis is made depending on the importance of the keywords on your titles and sub-titles.

D) Optimize Your Site for Web-Crawlers

1. The Robots Exclusion Protocol (Robots.txt)

Web-designers/developers use this file to direct the web-crawlers on how they should crawl and index their web-pages.
However; using robots.txt needs sufficient web-development expertise; as it can extremely harm your web-pages visibility if not used correctly.
Ensure that you locate robot.txt files in the top-level directory of your web-server for it to function as it should; otherwise, you will compromise your site's crawling by the search engine robots.

2. Using rel="nofollow"

Similar to Robot.txt; using rel="nofollow" requires extra care. This nofollow attribute is used to direct web-crawlers on which links not to follow and crawl on a web-page.
Some web-designers use this attribute to discourage spamming; or if the content of the page is not for public view.
Whichever reason you use it for, ensure that you counter-check your links so that you don't use nofollow attribute inappropriately and prevent search engine robots from crawling your important web-pages.

E) Mobile SEO

The majority of internet users today use mobile phones and other hand-held device to access information from the internet.
You need to notify Google crawlers of the mobile version of your website so that it is optimized for the users using mobile devices to search for information through the search engine.
On the other hand; ensure that you use mobile friendly images; and give clear directives on how to use the site with mobile devices.
If you are using a CMS like WordPress; ensure that your website is responsive by using WordPress themes that are mobile optimized; and can re-size to fit on small screens as well.

For you to convert more visitors into leads, so that your site's conversion rate remains high every time; taking your site to the top in SERP is not enough; and without effective content marketing strategy; your site's performance will be compromised.

2. Website Analysis

Analyzing your site's performance will assist you to calculate your return on investment (ROI); whether your SEO efforts are rewarded effectively.
There are a number of website analytic tools out there; Google Analytics being one of them with a number of features to analyze your site's performance.
On the other hand; utilize free Google Webmaster tools to get more insight about your page visits; and a number of data that will help you evaluate your ROI.

Getting your SEO right for high Google ranks is that simple: And since Google is the biggest search engine in the internet; all major search engines such as Yahoo and Bing will like your content and rank your website higher.
